FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) Tuesday, August 16, 2016 – Today, Member of Parliament, Terry Sheehan, announced $508,421 in funding for March of Dimes as part of the Service Canada Youth Employment Strategy Youth-Skills Link-Project.

“Today’s investment in the March of Dimes Achieving Success program is an investment in Sault Ste. Marie’s youth and our shared economic future. Our government is committed to working with groups like March of Dimes to provide opportunities for employment, work experience, and mentorship that will help young people obtain the skills and experience they need to have meaningful careers and a bright future,” stated MP Sheehan.

The funding will be used to help facilitate the March of Dimes Achieving Success program which runs for 12 months and helps get 50 local youth on the path to employment.

“March of Dimes Canada is proud to continue our support of young people in Northeastern Ontario.  Our Team will work with 50 youth (35 youth in Sault Ste. Marie and 15 youth in the Timmins area) to determine realistic job goals, provide them with real work experience and help them maintain and retain their employment.  Our Northern Ontario employers are important partners in this goal.  They understand that a young workforce will support their business needs now and in the future,” said Joan Teresinski, March of Dimes Local Regional Employee Services Manager.
