PRESS RELEASE: TOWN HALL DISCUSSION ON CLEAN GROWTH AND CLIMATE CHANGE HELD IN SAULT STE. MARIE
August 30, 2016

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) Tuesday, August 30, 2016 –  The scientific evidence is clear: climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time and also one of the greatest opportunities. From increased incidences of droughts, to coastal flooding, to the expanding melt of sea ice in our Arctic, the widespread impacts of climate change are compelling Canadians to think about viable solutions.

“Climate change is an issue that affects all of us. We have to work together if we are going to affect change and I think continuing the conversation is critical,” said MP Sheehan.

Yesterday, Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, held a town hall discussion on clean growth and climate change where constituents discussed potential actions that can be taken by governments and individuals to address climate change issues.

“By hosting a town hall on climate change and clean growth, residents of our riding had the opportunity to share their ideas and knowledge when it comes to climate change actions and potential solutions. Many great ideas and suggestions were shared and I look forward to bringing these to Ottawa with me and discussing them with my colleagues, including Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna. Our riding has a depth of knowledge that has a lot to contribute to the conversation,” concluded Sheehan.

Individuals are encouraged to submit ideas on how to address climate change by visiting http://www.canada.ca/climateaction.
