PRESS RELEASE: PRIME MINISTER TRUDEAU MEETS WITH TENARIS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) Wednesday, December 7, 2016 – During the recent official visit to Argentina, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, met with Argentinian President, Mauricio Macri, and a number of local business leaders. Issues of importance to Canada and Argentina that were discussed included the creation of well-paying jobs and the promotion of economic growth that benefits all citizens. Argentina remains an important market and commercial partner to Canadian businesses. There is recognized potential for Canadian businesses to increase commerce with Argentina, as the country implements an ambitious, inclusive, and sustainable economic plan with a strong focus on international trade and investment.
During the official visit, at MP Terry Sheehan’s request, Prime Minister Trudeau met with Tenaris CEO, Paolo Rocco while in Buenos Aires. The Government, once again, demonstrated its commitment to the Canadian steel industry and to the riding of Sault Ste. Marie.
“I’m very pleased that the Prime Minister made time to meet with Tenaris CEO, Paolo Rocca. The Canadian steel industry is a pillar of our economy and the Government is committed to building stronger relations to further support our jobs. This meeting further proves the Government’s commitment to the Canadian steel industry and to the Riding of Sault Ste. Marie,” Sheehan said.
“In the meeting between our Chairman and CEO Paolo Rocca and the Canadian Prime Minister, it was clear that Mr. Trudeau understands the issues important to Canadian manufacturers like Tenaris, especially those contributing to the safe and responsible oil and gas development. We are grateful the Prime Minister sat down with us during his first official visit to Argentina and also recognize Sault Ste. Marie MP, Terry Sheehan, for helping to organize the meeting,” said Guillermo Moreno, President of Tenaris Canada.
