MP TERRY SHEEHAN CELEBRATES THE SUCCESS OF CANADA SUMMER JOBS WITH STUDENTS AND EMPLOYERS

Helping young Canadians develop their skills and gain valuable workplace experience will build a strong economy and middle class. Canada’s future depends on a highly skilled and experienced workforce, and Canada Summer Jobs helps employers create job opportunities for youth in their communities. Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, today was pleased to announce that the Riding of Sault Ste. Marie has exceeded this objective.

The federal government committed to doubling the amount of jobs available through the CSJ program from the previous government.

This year, the Riding of Sault Ste. Marie was approved for 402 summer jobs and more than $907,000 in funding. Over the past two years, MP Sheehan is proud to have facilitated 713 summer jobs and more than $1,735,000 in funding for Sault Ste. Marie, Prince Township, Batchewana Bay, Goulais River, Batchewana First Nation, and Garden River First Nation.

MP Sheehan is also pleased to announce the federal government is committed to doubling the amount of CSJ jobs next year and encourages employers and students in the Riding of Sault Ste. Marie to take part in the program.

“Hiring a student is a win-win for everybody. On one hand, employers are benefitting from the new skills and perspectives that youth have to offer. On the other hand, students are earning money for school, gaining much-needed skills and experience, all while contributing to their community.”
