#ClaimYourPlace
Women’s History Month is a commemorative event that takes place every year, recognizing the monumental achievements of Canada’s women and girls over the course of our nation’s history. Throughout October, we encourage everyone to honour the women and girls who have shaped our country – trailblazers whose acts of courage paved the way towards a more equal society.
It is a call to action reminding us all that despite great achievements, there is still work to do to make gender equality a reality, to ensure girls and women are not afraid to walk alone in our streets at night, and to ensure they have the same opportunity as men and boys to thrive, to work in the field of their choice, and to be leaders.
Commemorative events like Women’s History Month are an important way of acknowledging the immeasurable contributions of women and girls – when women and girls believe in their abilities, express their ideas, and follow their ambitions, they are contributing to a thriving, dynamic society, where the voices of all people can be heard.
Share your personal stories of striving for change using the hashtag #ClaimYourPlace and recognize the women and girls who inspire you every day to claim your place in the world.
