Press Release
For Immediate Release
December 17, 2020
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
The holidays look much different this year, as Canadians have explored new ways to celebrate together, while apart.
As you continue to wrap up preparations for the holiday season next week, now is the time to come together to thank and support our local businesses and organizations.
While following our local public health guidelines, shopping and eating locally, particularly during the holiday season, is one way in which you can help.
Since this crisis began, our Government has been there to provide support for Canadians, protect jobs, and keep businesses afloat during these challenging times.
Local business, their owners, and their workers are at the heart of our communities. They are our neighbours and friends. This holiday season consider ordering take out from our fantastic local restaurants. Or purchase gift cards for shops and restaurants to show them support. Our local business owners have shown incredible resilience this year. Join me and #supportlocal as we celebrate the holiday season.
Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament, Sault Ste. Marie and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development (FedNor) and Official Languages
Now, more than ever, it is important to support local business. The businesses that stepped up for our community during the pandemic whether they were fully or partially open, or completely closed. Now during this holiday season, they are taking every precaution to keep you safe when visiting their establishments. The phrase “Buy Local or Say Goodbye Local” does not ring more true than this holiday season. Every dollar spent in a local business means that charities, sports teams, food banks, women’s shelter and places like ARCH can benefit from business’ support and giving. Every dollar spent locally means $7-$11 of economic benefit is felt in the community and that’s why we support #supportlocal and shop local promoters like www.algomamarketplace.com.
