For Immediate Release
May 28, 2021
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Yesterday evening, MP Terry Sheehan hosted a Virtual (telephone) Townhall Meeting. MP Sheehan was joined by thousands of residents from throughout the riding listening in, providing input, and asking questions.
The focus of the Townhall was on the new 2021 Federal Budget: A Recovery Plan for Jobs, Growth, and Resilience
MP Sheehan has always made it a priority to engage and connect with the residents in the riding of Sault Ste. Marie, the Townhall allowed Sheehan to address questions about Budget 2021 and building a stronger, more equitable economy as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The greatest danger to our economy would have been not doing enough; strong fiscal support is necessary to prevent economic scarring and make sure Canada’s recovery leaves no one behind.” said Sheehan.
Canada entered the pandemic in a strong fiscal position. This allowed the government to take quick and decisive action, supporting people and businesses, and to make historic investments in the recovery.
MP Sheehan fielded a range of questions, including: Seniors issues and support, Tourism, support for students and our post secondary institutions, COVID-19 vaccine distribution, Climate Change and jobs and the economy.
“There are a couple things I wanted to accomplish through this Townhall. One, is hearing directly from my constituents and finding out what is truly important to them. Second, I wanted to ensure people are aware of the historic levels of new and increased supports contained in Budget 2021. This budget is our Recovery Plan for jobs, growth, and resilience.”
Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament, Sault Ste. Marie and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Economic Development (FedNor) and Official Languages
In addition to this Townhall, MP Sheehan will continue to share important information via household mail products, video conferencing, advertisements, telephone, website, public announcements, and social media.
