Sheehan Announces Rollout of Grocery Rebate

Starting today, low- and modest-income Canadians and families will begin receiving their new, one-time Grocery Rebate. This targeted inflation relief will provide up to an extra $467 for families of four; up to an average of $225 for seniors; and up to $234 for single Canadians by direct deposit or cheque along with their July GST Credit payment.

"Today, Canadians across the country will begin to see the results of one of our key successes from Budget 2023," said Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, Terry Sheehan. "Inflation is already slowing quickly, but we recognize that many families, seniors and individuals still need some help. This is why we are putting it straight into the bank accounts, with no action needed on their part."

"With this rebate, our government is continuing to provide support to the Canadians who need it most."

As of May 2023, inflation in Canada has fallen to 3.4 per cent, down a full percentage point from April. It is among the lowest in the G7. The Grocery Rebate and other measures in Budget 2023 will continue help Canadians, grow our economy, and fight climate change.
